Role Summary – Residential Support Worker

Here at Seashell Trust we provide care and education for children and young people (up to 25 years old) with severe, profound and complex learning difficulties and disabilities, sensory impairment and communication disorders and autism.

• We are recruiting for a talented Residential Support Worker to work in our Short Breaks children’s home
• This active role will involve providing daily care and support for our children and young people including personal care needs, mobility, daily routine support, communication, independent living skills, learning and leisure activities
• This role will work in our fantastic, state of the art 4 bedroom home supporting our children at our single site in Cheadle Hulme near Manchester airport
• Some challenging behaviours may present, so candidates should be comfortable working in this type of environment
• This is a full time permanent role for a Residential Support/Care Worker in a Short Breaks Service

Requirements

• Experience working in a care setting supporting children/people with complex learning disabilities and communication, behavioural and sensory impairments or in a mental health setting is required at this time
• QCF Level 3 Children's & Young People's Workforce/ Residential Childcare or Level 3 qualification in Health & Social Care (or similar) is preferred but not essential – successful applicants who are not qualified can "earn as you learn" as we will enrol and support you to complete the qualification
• Experience working within a short break/respite provision is preferred but not essential

The hours

• Flexibility over 7 days is required (37.5 hours per week)
• The roles operate on a rotating shift pattern
• The roles will work every other weekend
